Application to WCM-Q Training Program for Nationals Now Open

WCMQ Training for Nationals

Application to the Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) Biomedical Research Training Program for Nationals 2019 is now open. The programme, designed to give aspiring Qatari college graduates the opportunity to gain key research skills and experience, is aimed at helping graduates kick-start their successful careers in biomedical research.

The six-month training programme is scheduled to run from January 2019 to July 2019. Participating graduates will work alongside WCM-Q’s world-leading research scientists in the college’s state-of-the-art laboratories, under a programme carefully designed to equip trainees with a wide variety of research skills, experiences and competencies, providing a firm foundation upon which they can build careers in research.

Interns will gain practical laboratory skills, research administration skills, knowledge about how to conduct clinical research projects, and the chance to contribute to ongoing scientific studies at WCM-Q.

Although the programme is aimed at recent graduates interested to pursue a career as a bench or clinical researcher, or research administrator, applications from nationals are welcomed irrespective of their discipline. The training programme is a full-time, six-month employment commitment and trainees receive a graduation certificate upon completion. All participating interns are also paid a stipend as part of a comprehensive compensation package.

The programme is fully funded by WCM-Q, and is organised in partnership with Qatar Research Leadership Program at Qatar Foundation. To date, the programme has completed eight annual cycles and has provided training to 36 interns. It was launched in 2011, inspired by Qatar National Vision 2030 and the goal of creating a knowledge-based economy based on national human capacity, in preparation for a post-hydrocarbon future.

Applications to join the WCM-Q Biomedical Research Training Program for Nationals can be submitted online until 4 November 2018. Interested applicants can contact the research training team for more information through this email: Applicants can also find more details here.
