Doha English Speaking School (DESS) had a fantastic time last week raising funds for their chosen charity Qatar Creating Vision (QCV), for the benefit of children in India and Bangladesh.

DESS Dream Big DayChildren took part in three days of various activities including a sponsored walk and read-a-thon, and a fundraising day with enterprising stalls. These stalls were created by children and include food stalls, a toy and book sale, a ‘splat the teacher’ activity booth, and more. Children paid for each activity they took part in, to raise funds for QCV.

The week culminated in ‘Dream Big Day’ where children dressed up into what they’d like to be when they grow up – as doctors, pilots, chefs, teachers and ballerinas. Parents also set up stalls in the school hall to give inspirational talks to children about their own careers. The school raised over QAR78,000 for the cause.

DESS has been organising an annual charity event to raise funds for the school’s chosen charity. The school had also previously donated to QCV. Visit dess.org for updates and more information about DESS and the school’s charity initiative.
