Eid 2015 Festivities

Eid is a festive time in Qatar with celebrations taking place across the country. Stay tuned for lots of family entrainment with musical shows and plays, and more.


Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA)

QTA’s Eid Al Fitr 2015 Festival will offer daily family entertainment shows including mime shows, The Rene Magritte Show, The Bubble Jo Show, and the Magic Paper Artist, as well as traditional Qatari Ardah performances throughout the country at malls starting at 4 pm and continuing until 10 pm. The shows will rotate between Hyatt Plaza, City Centre Doha, Ezdan Mall, Lagoona Mall, Al Khor Mall, and Dar Al Salam Mall.

QTA is also organising exclusive shows at each of the malls, including Peter Pan (City Centre Doha), Circus Canada (Al Khor Mall), Jungle Book (Lagoona Mall), Pinocchio (Hyatt Plaza), The Little Prince (Dar Al Salam Mall) and Meet the Nicktoons (Ezdan Mall).

Festival highlights include family-friendly musical ‘Elmo Makes Music‘ produced by the makers of the popular Sesame Street programme. The show will be held from 18 to 22 July 2015 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), with tickets selling at Virgin Megastores’ website and Q-tickets.com.

Meanwhile older audiences will be able to enjoy the stage production ‘Bishowish’ [Take it Easy], a touring play that will show at Katara Theatre from 18 to 27 July 2015, before moving to other Arab countries. The play was written by Teyseer Abdullah and is directed by Saad Burshed, and stars a mix of 16 Qatari and Arab actors including Khaled Al Egeireb, Ali Ghreer, Khalil Al Ramees, Muneera Mohammed, and Mohammed Al Sonni.

Sesame Street: Elmo Makes Music

Elmo Makes Music

This Eid mark your calendar for a musical event like no other—monsters making music. Your favorite Sesame Street characters Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their friends are coming to Qatar to share their love of music in Sesame Street Live ‘Elmo Makes Music’.

Date: 18 – 22 July 2015

Time: Shows will take place daily with two showing times at 5 pm and 8 pm

Location: Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC)

Tickets for all 10 performances are on sale at all Virgin Megastores, Q- Tickets.com, Lulu Centers & Hypermarkets, FNAC (Lagoona Mall) & Sharaf DG (Ezdan Mall).

Katara Cultural Village

Katara Cultural Village is holding a four-day festival to celebrate Eid Al Fitr by holding the following daily activities:

  • Giveaways for children 7 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Presentation about the land of accomplishments (4 days – in Arabic) 7:30 pm to 7:55 pm
  • Presentation about the land of accomplishments (4 days – in English) at 8:30 pm to 8:55 pm
  • Presentation about the land of accomplishments (4 days – in Arabic) at 9:30 pm to 9:55 pm
  • Fireworks 10 pm

Filipino Food Festival

Filipino Food Festival Eid 2015
Philippine Embassy in Doha is bringing together the Filipino community to celebrate Eid Al Fitr.

Al Khor Barwa Workers Complex and Asian Town

The Ministry of Interior, in association with Barwa and Asian Town, will be organising two mega events on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. The events will take place at Al Khor Barwa Workers Complex in Al Khor Industrial Area and Asian Town’s Cricket Stadium in Industrial Area on the first and second day of Eid Al Fitr from 3 pm to 10 pm, consisting of cultural, recreational and sports activities for expatriate communities in Qatar.

Al Khor Industrial Area

Cultural performers including Popins’ and ‘Sariga’ orchestra teams from the Asian communities in Qatar, especially India and Nepal, will perform from 4 pm to 9 pm. In addition, the finals of the ‘Ramadan Championship 2015’ organised by the Ministry of Interior for companies and communities in cricket and volleyball, will be held on the first day of Eid and the finals of the football and basketball on the second day of Eid Al Fitr.

Asian Town

The cricket stadium at Asian Town, which is near Grand Mall in the Industrial Area, will witness a cricket tournament between Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Qatari teams from 3 pm to 10 pm in first and second days of Eid.

The entry to the two-day event at Al Khor Barwa Workers Complex and Cricket Stadium in Asian Town is free and there will be special areas for the families. In addition, the organisers have arranged valuable prizes for the public to win through a raffle draw.

The companies interested to send their workers to the event in Al Khor can coordinate with Bahauddeen on 3039 6976 and to the event in Doha Industrial area can coordinate with Siraj on 3358 7015.


Royal Plaza

Royal Plaza Eid 2015

Celebrate Eid Al Fitr at Royal Plaza with family fun events including face painting, henna, magic shows and more from 18 to 20 July 2015.


 

Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum (FBQ Museum)

Painting Workshop

The workshop aims to inspire the families taking part with the extraordinary FBQ Museum collections to paint. Participants will be able to draw on the collection themes and use their creative energies to produce their own artwork that they can then take home to frame or give as a gift to a special person.

Date: Sunday 19 July 2015 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am and Monday 20 July and Tuesday 21 July 2015

Time: 10 am to 11 am

Calligraphy Workshop

will see the Museum’s Arabic Calligraphy Artist teaching children and adults the art of Arabic Calligraphy and its uses in different art forms and objects. Families will be able to distinguish the different styles of Arabic Calligraphy to produce artwork themselves. Since the inception of Islamic Art, Arabic Calligraphy has been an important art form which Muslims and Arabs have used to decorate their homes.

Date: Sunday 19 July 2015 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am and 2 pm to 3 pm and Monday 20 July and Tuesday 21 July 2015

Time: 10 am to 11 am and 2 pm to 3 pm

Collage Workshop

The use of recycled paper, magazines and newspapers, will help participants to create a collage. Those taking part are encouraged to bring with them old magazines and newspapers to be recycled at the Workshop to develop fantastic artworks. Everyone will learn how to produce a collage which they can take home at the end of the session.

Date: All three days of Eid,

Time: 1 pm to 2 pm

Clay Sculpture Workshop

The workshop aims to train participants on how to manipulate clay to produce small scale sculptures. Known to be a particularly messy activity, the Workshop will bring out the pottery artist in all who take part. This activity gives budding clay sculptors complete artistic freedom so they can come up with different forms and shapes to convey their creative vision.

Date: All three days of Eid

Time: 10:30 am – 11:30 am and 3 pm – 4 pm

Admission during Eid holiday will be charged as follows:

  • Children under 8 years old – free
  • Visitors up to 18 years old – QAR10
  • Adults – QAR15

The Museum will be open all day during the Eid holidays from 10 am to 7 pm but it is necessary to book your visit by going to the website or calling the museum on 6687 4177.


The Pearl-Qatar

Eid at the pearl 2015

Celebrate Eid Al Fitr with your children at The Pearl-Qatar! Celebrations will be hosted in partnership with Tickles and Giggles. Children can enjoy activities such as face painting, decorating cupcakes, bending balloons, art workshops, playing with cartoon mascots and indulging in unlimited tasty pop corn and cotton candy at the Tickles and Giggles play arena.

Date: 17 to 19 July 2015

Time: 6 pm to 10 pm


Aqua Park

Aqua Park Eid 2015Eid Celebrations at Aqua Park will continue for three days kicking off with an African Show, a Pharanic Show on the second of Eid and a Sambra Show on the third day of Eid. The festivities will also include a Dwarves Carnival, Minion Show, Robot Show, Mickey Mouse Performance, Doddy and Moody The Clowns Show, Little Red Riding Hood Show, Talent Show, Mind Competitions, and Sport Competitions.


The Gate Mall

The Gate Mall and Salam Stores has announced an extension of its festive celebrations until the end of Eid. The 5D cinema will continue to offer a thrilling experience to guests through continuous screenings of different shows daily; the face painting and storytelling sessions will also be held simultaneously. In addition to these, a range of new activities will also take place including comical acts of the world-renowned Muppet show, traditional henna art and a bouncing castle for the kids to enjoy. Furthermore, popular cartoon characters such as Tom and Jerry, Sponge Bob square pants and Disney’s Frozen ensemble will also be making special appearances.
