InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) namely InterContinental Doha Hotel & Residences, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn The Business Park, and the new Staybridge Suites Doha Lusail and Crowne Plaza Doha West Bay, hosted the annual IHG Qatar Open tournament last 9 & 10 November 2018 at the Doha Golf Club. This annual event was concluded with an auction and a gala dinner on 10 November and an impressive amount of QAR 10,000 was raised for Qatar’s leading Cancer Awareness organisation, Qatar Cancer Society.

Elie Saliba, Resident Manager at InterContinental Doha Hotel & Residences, said:

This year and as part of our ‘responsible business’ strategic vision, we continued with our charity auction on the awards night of the IHG Qatar Open, where we successfully raised QAR 10,000 for Qatar Cancer Society. They are one of the leading humanitarian organisations in Qatar which pledges to work towards increasing public awareness about cancer and cancer prevention.

Saliba, on behalf of IHG® Qatar, proudly presented the cheque to Omar Al Twaissi, Head of Business Development from Qatar Cancer Society at the InterContinental Doha Hotel & Residences Thursday, 6 December 2018. Omar showed their gratitude for IHG’s initiative by presenting a Certificate of Appreciation to InterContinental Doha Hotel & Residences and to the major sponsor of IHG Qatar Open 2018, Nakheel Landscapes.

To support and contribute towards local charities is key. As we know, every amount is a big help to our local charities. Qatar Cancer Society’s main goal is to increase public awareness about cancer whilst continuously striving to find cures and preventive measures to eradicate the disease.  Every effort made can make a difference.
