The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara opened the photo exhibition ‘African Safari’ featuring photographer Ali Al Shamsi, at the Katara Youth Hobby Centre, Building 18.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara, opened the exhibition joined by several dignitaries and officials of Katara.
It is such a beautiful exhibition and very scenic. The photographer made so much effort and risked his life to be able to shoot those fine photographs. We always welcome and support these talented and ambitious youths.’
The 26-year old Shamsi, who started photography few years ago, said that he is self-taught and he learned from famous Kuwaiti photographer Majed Sultan who inspired him and taught him techniques on using the camera.
Al Shamsi’s photographs include that of wild animals such as lions, cheetas and deer. He said that doing the shoot has been tricky and required a lot of patience. He even waited for four hours to snap one good photo, but he said that at the end of the day, he was proud of his effort. Four of his photographs were submitted to the National Geographic, a feat he considered a big success.
