Novo Cinemas is opening a boutique cinema in Souq Waqif. Opening on the first day of Eid Al Fitr 2018, the state-of-the-art five screen cinema features all the leading entertainment for which Novo is known.  It will have four standard theatres and one VIP 7-Star screen.

Souq Waqif is a unique marketplace in Doha, noted for selling traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. The Souq dates back over a hundred years and was renovated in 2006 to preserve its traditional Qatari architectural style. A neighbourhood gem serving as a reminder of Qatari culture, the area is a popular destination for locals and tourists because of its wide variety of dining options.

According to Elan Group COO for Entertainment Ahmed Al Mulla, the venue will carry the standards set by Novo Cinemas matched with the latest in cinema technology.

We are very excited to be expanding our Novo network throughout Qatar to reaffirm our place as regional leaders in unparalleled entertainment experiences.’

Novo Cinemas CEO Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen said they strive to find original locations that are synonymous with ‘exceptional’ cinema journeys for visitors.

The traditional and vibrant atmosphere of Souq Waqif provides the perfect venue for our boutique entertainment hub, an exciting addition to our collection. We look forward to developing another aspect of culture in a neighbourhood that is already so rich with history.’

Novo will have a total of five cinemas in Qatar with the opening of their boutique cinema in Souq Waqif, and soon, in Msheireb Downtown Doha. For updates and more information, visit novocinemas.com.
