Qatar Airways’ official celebration of the country’s forthcoming National Day kicked off on Tuesday with an event for the airline’s employees and guests from local media and social media influencers highlighting Qatar’s rich culture and heritage.

The event took place under the patronage of Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications, His Excellency Jassim bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, and was hosted by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker. In attendance were Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, His Excellency Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey; Director General of Qatar Aeronautical College Sheikh Jabor bin Hamad Al Thani; former Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority His Excellency Abdul Aziz Mohamed Al Nuaimi and Head of Mesaimeer Passport Services Centre Major Yousuf Abdullah Al Muhaizia.

Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) P.Q.S.C., Qatar’s next generation bank, recently celebrated Qatar’s National Day at its headquarters in West bay. The event witnessed recreational activities for this occasion, in the presence of H.E Sheikh Hamad Bin Faisal Bin Thani Al Thani, al khaliji Chairman along with the executive management, staff and their families. Nord Anglia International School Al Khor team up with The Girls Centre Al Khor for the best Qatar National Day celebrations to date.

This year’s Qatar National Day celebrations were unlike any other with the community coming together to arrange events and activities for everybody to enjoy.  Students from across the school danced, performed and provided interesting speeches about Qatar’s rich history and promising future.  Sana Obaid of the Arabic Department and a large number of parents worked tirelessly to arrange stalls and events, which were also remarkably informative.

Doha College

Students and staff at Doha College enjoyed an immersing full Qatari experience, complete with the most diverse aspects of the Qatari culture and heritage. The build-up to the celebration started weeks before and it culminated with a day dedicated entirely to everything Qatari.

Dr Steffen Sommer, Principal of Doha College, expressed his gratitude to the host country and added:

The students have done so well to bring Qatar into the college. I am proud to see how incredibly extensive their knowledge of Qatar is, and how much they enjoy taking part in the Qatari traditions.’
