The crowd enjoyed a range of fun family activities at Qatar Foundation (QF) ‘Education City United’ event organised by student leaders as part of QF’s National Day celebrations.

Education City United, which took place at the QF Ceremonial Court recently, was a celebration of Qatar’s rich traditions, values, and culture.

The event highlighted the diverse multi-cultural community within Education City to demonstrate the bonds that strengthen the wider community through the country’s many achievements, as well as the morals and values that Qatar represents.

The Education City United event included two traditional majlises for males and females, traditional and non-traditional food stalls, and musical performances. Participating universities provided a news studio simulation by Northwestern University in Qatar, while Hamad Bin Khalifa University presented the first map of Qatar made from LED lights.

The event also included a flag-raising ceremony and a marching display by members of the Qatar Armed Forces, traditional sword dancing, and a vintage car show.

Al Dana Mohammed Al-Dosari, a senior student at NU-Q, said that Education City organises their own celebration of the National Day annually. However, this year, the students have come together to create one big event that shows how everyone are standing together for Qatar.

By celebrating together, we want to show how much we appreciate this country and everything it has done for us. Besides celebrating National Day together, this event provides an opportunity for the public to learn about aspects of the different universities in Education City.’

Another student Saeed Binnoora, a junior at Texas A&M University at Qatar, said the event allowed them to show their sense of unity.

I’m so grateful to everyone who came together to make it all possible. Education City is a perfect example of the diverse community we have here in Qatar. Even inside our campus, there is so much diversity, and people are always so eager to learn about other cultures, making an event like this very important.’

Education City United is supported by the following companies and organisations: Seashore, QNB, Ooredoo, Omsiyati and Leto Café.
