The event, which was held on 9 December 2016, was attended by more than 150 people and highlighted QBG’s efforts to promote sustainability in the community and to increase green spaces in Qatar. The initiative also highlights the importance of growing trees in the context of climate change.

Fatima Saleh Al Khulaifi, Manager of the Qur’anic Botanic Garden, said:

The ‘Ghars’ campaign exemplifies the efforts of the Qur’anic Botanic Garden and QF towards conserving Qatar’s environment through encouraging all community members to become active in tree planting.’

Through the event QBG, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), has shown the importance of the ‘Ghars’ campaign in promoting the preservation of the environment and in raising awareness of green issues and contemporary environmental challenges such as climate change and desertification.
