Visit Takes in Tour of Facilities at Qatar Foundation Nursery

The Qur’anic Botanic Garden (QBG) recently welcomed the Swiss Ambassador Consort, Amber Thévoz, during a visit to the QBG facilities located at the Qatar Foundation Nursery, including the shaded greenhouses, laboratory, herbarium and seed bank.

During the visit, Thévoz viewed the temporary exhibition of plants and botanical terms that are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith. The exhibition includes photographs, live models of green plants and a number of traditional tools made from plants.

Fatma Saleh Al Khulaifi, Project Manager of QBG, accompanied Thévoz on the visit and said:

We are committed to educating the community about the plants and trees in the Holy Qur’an. Through various activities, we are able to showcase the flora connected to the world of Islam, and related topics such as agriculture and horticulture. We are delighted at the positive response we have received.’

Concluding her tour, Thévoz said:

I was honoured to get this chance to know and learn more about the varieties of plants mentioned in Holy Qur’an. I feel proud to know that all those plants have benefits to our health. I use some of them in my daily food. I hope I can bring more people to visit this wonderful place in Qatar.’

QBG, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), aims to encourage social engagement and strengthen agricultural awareness in Qatar, supporting QF’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability within the wider community.
