Arab and German Tales Exhibition at Qatar National Library

The exhibition is organised within the framework of Qatar–Germany Year of Culture and provides an insight into the history of Arabic and German fairy and folk tales, and how the two traditions influenced each other. It aims to show the transcultural value of narrative traditions as a shared intangible cultural heritage and highlight mutual influences, shared ideas and cultural transfer between the Arab world and Germany through storytelling and tales.

Laundromat by Ai Weiwei

Ai Weiwei’s Laundromat is a travelling installation that brings the current European migrant crisis into sharp focus. This exhibition focuses on the global refugee crisis and presents several efforts made by the artist to highlight the plight of the refugees, inspired by the journey @aiweiwei took to 40 refugee camps across 23 countries while filming his documentary feature Human Flow.

Gardens of Al-Andalus Exhibition

The exhibition reflects the importance of gardens in Islam and the Muslims’ interest in them by showing the plant species used in Spain during the Islamic period, as well as the irrigation system in the gardens and some of the tools used by Muslims in Andalusia for agri­culture. The exhibition is an expression of the peaceful coexistence of different cultures, respect for the environment and historical heritage.

In Partnership with Ministry of Municipality and Environment, The British Council in Qatar brings “Streets of Doha” Maze at Dahl Al Hammam Park. An exciting public installation for families to enjoy the feel of old Doha streets. There will also be a selection of traditional Qatari games. Children can enjoy creating their own collages of the existing streets of Doha and will be able to design their dream spaces.

Special family activity every Friday from 4 pm–8 pm

Free admission every day for 2 months until 26 May 2018
