A Closer Look at 2016 Honda Pilot EXL

HONDA PILOT

With its sleek body, muscular hood with sculpted lines and projector-beam LED headlights, the Pilot leaves a bold impression. And with a redesigned aerodynamic roofline and chrome-accented front grille, it steers towards style and turns more than just heads. In fact, so smooth is this shape, I had to be extra careful not to exceed the speed limit. This new Pilot just wants to go!

The rounded new shape is very appealing; there’s an elegance to the profile, the low front end and horizontally themed grille playing handsomely off each other.

Inside, it is very well finished. It is a joy to drive and with the 8-inch display audio touch-screen you can touch, pinch and swipe your way through music, podcasts and more.

The Pilot is also known for its versatility. Three rows of seats have space for up to eight passengers. The front seats are just about ideally shaped, and with step-in height about an inch lower than before, the Pilot is an even better bet for smaller or older drivers. The middle row is adult-friendly, and for the first time, you can get a version with two captain’s chairs and a pass-through. The seat reclines for long trips and has its own tray table and cup holders.

In the back, the third-row seat is accessed by folding forward the second-row seat and the back seat has enough space for two adults with a surprising amount of head and leg room.

Cargo space is abundant in the Pilot. There are cupholders everywhere, and a centre console big enough for an iPad, a bag or that bag of fast food you grab on the way home! The third row folds down for a flat cargo floor. There’s a reversible cargo panel for dirty stuff like sports and beach paraphenalia, and behind the third row you can even still get a large cooler.

Performance with the Pilot’s updated V6 is strong. With 280 horsepower, it’s an energetic performer with a great engine note. It gives eveyone a plush and relaxed ride and feels mature and luxurious at the wheel.

Safety systems are world-class and the five-star safety ratings reflect Honda efforts to make its cars as safe and reassuring as possibleTECH SPEC MOTORING DOHA QATARENGINE 3.5 litre V6 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC + VCM, with direct fuel injection
