One of the core competencies of Porsche engineers is boosting performance and efficiency. In developing the new Panamera, this led to an entirely new engine: a V6 engine with three litres displacement and biturbo charging. The V6 biturbo replaces the previous 4.8-litre V8 engine in the Panamera S and Panamera 4S, and is also used in the new Executive version of the Panamera 4S.

Its basic parameters are themselves indicators of progress: 20 hp more power and 20 Newton metres more torque, and up to 18 per cent better fuel economy. So, a more powerful and efficient engine; turbocharging results in a maximum torque of 520 Newton metres over a very wide range of engine speeds for a superior performance curve.

Compared to a V8 engines, the crankshaft has a shorter stroke; this makes the engine very rev-friendly and this free-revving biturbo engine also expresses its sporty-emotional side acoustically – yes, I mean it sounds absolutely amazing.

The Panamera 4S, and indeed the entire wide range of Panamera models, embodies the essence of Porsche, which is the smooth combination of performance and luxury so that we mere mortals may relax in a high performance sports car engineered to provide adrenaline-fuelled pleasure even on ordinary roads.

The successful gains in performance and fuel economy are also attributable to the further advanced and optimised control system for the sporty transmission, which enables new functions as well. For example, Porsche engineers supplemented the seven gears of the PDK with virtual intermediate gears which further improve fuel economy and comfort.

The running gear of the new Panamera models is revised to provide greater sportiness and luxurious comfort. And chassis mounts were increased in size and now offer even more comfort due to greater solidity.

EXTERIOR Tighter, more prominent linework at the front end is especially apparent in the larger air intakes and the distinctive transition to the headlights. In side profile, the new, more swept-back windscreen creates a more extended silhouette. The side view of the new Panamera was also modified. For example, the side sills now have a clearly visible edge in the outer area. This edge is echoed in the mirror.
