One of the most popular sports events in Qatar is back – but this time, at a new venue!

Exciting news was released in October regarding the 2020 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, the prestigious annual golf tournament which attracts some of the biggest names in the sport.

Sponsors Commercial Bank has entered into a partnership agreement with Qatar Golf Association (QGA) to continue as official title sponsor for the tournament until 2022. And Education City Golf Club (ECGC) is set to become the newest golf course on the European Tour Calendar as they become the new hosts of the event in 2020.

The event is jointly organised by QGA, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), ECGC and Commercial Bank, and is a must for all golf fans. The annual event was first held in 1998 and is renowned for bringing the world’s best golfers to Qatar – Sergio Garcia, Rory Mcllroy, Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Ernie Els and Henrik Stenson have all competed in the past.

Over the years many of Qatar’s residents have turned out to watch the world’s elite players battle it out for the mother of pearl trophy. The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters was attended by thousands of spectators in 2019 and broadcast to a global TV audience of over 450 mn viewers, all of whom watched Justin Harding of South Africa secure his first European Tour win.
