It has been another well-planned and well participated celebration, and everyone in Qatar – young and old alike – are still reeling from that healthy feeling. Where did you spent the National Sport Day this year?
For starters, The Amir, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, celebrated Qatar National Sport Day with a tour of the Aspire Zone Football Performance Centre. A Dedicated Day for Sports
For those wondering about how this event came to be, the first National Sport Day was held in 2012 following an Emiri Decree (No. 80 of 2011) and was designated for sporting endeavours. The day’s main aim is to promote sports and educate the local population on ways to reduce health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Many government ministries and private sector companies organise hundreds of activities and sport day events for employees and the general public. The day is also an opportunity to bring communities closer together through sport, following the sporting principles of team building, inclusion and unity, participation, fitness and health. Along with the extensive sporting events across the country, National Sport Day is a reminder of Qatar’s sporting heritage and the role it has played in the country’s most recent developments.
Alfardan Group supported this year’s Qatar National Sport Day by engaging employees and their families in a fun day of sport at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall in Aspire Zone. The event was designed to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among the Alfardan Group team, in keeping with the spirit of the annual Sport Day celebration.
