Anima Gallery at The Pearl-Qatar presents a solo exhibition by Lebanese artist, Said Baalbaki, from 15 September to 15 November 2013. The opening reception will be held on Sunday 15 September 2013 at Anima Gallery from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Born in 1974 in Beirut, Said Baalbaki lives and works between Beirut and Berlin. In 2005, he was awarded the Meisterschülerpreis des Präsidenten (President’s Prize) from the UDK (Berlin University of Fine Arts). Since 1998, he exhibited in Berlin, London, New York, Doha, Dubai, Paris, Brussels and Beirut. He first studied painting at the institute des Beaux-Arts, Beirut. He then joined the University of the Arts, Berlin, attending the master classes of Burkhard Held. He then graduated with a masters of art from the Institute for Art in Context. Said who is also known as Baal, is known for his piles of suitcases, radios, toys and other abandoned possessions. With a palette of layered colors, Said delicately depicts impressions of an interrupted childhood haunted by instability, Reflecting the fragility of the human condition during war.
