Eight students from ACS Doha International finished a two day sailing trip up to Al Khor and back last Thursday.
After weeks of training, the students were split into two groups and sailed on board yachts owned by the Regatta Sailing Academy. A yacht master and a senior member of staff accompanied the grade 8 students on their trip, which was a first of its kind experience for school. The plan was to encourage leadership, problem solving and teamwork skills, to help the students in their transition from middle school to high school.
Dale Taylor, the middle school principal at ACS Doha said the school wanted to do something “innovative for the grade 8 students, something that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.”
