The Supervising Committee for the Fifth Central Municipal Council (CMC) Election will announce initial list of voters at the headquarters of each constituency on Wednesday 28 January 2015, following the completion of first phase of voter list registration on 22 January 2015.

The total numbers of the voters who registered through the headquarters of the 29 electoral constituencies as well as ‘Metrash2’ service reached to 19,396 voters.

The committee urged all citizens who have registered their names in voters list to head toward electoral headquarters to ensure their names are entered in the voter list. The committee will start receiving the applications for addition or deletion of the voters through the headquarters of all electoral constituencies as well as ‘Metrash2’ service on Wednesday 28 January 2015 as well as it will provide chance to the citizens who could not register their names in voter list to make registration during the addition and deletion period of seven days until Thursday 5 February 2015.

Regarding the evaluation of the first phase of registration, Director of Elections Department and Head of the Supervising Committee for the Fifth Central Municipal Council Election, Brigadier Majid Ibrahim Al Khulaifi said that the Ministry of Interior has spent all kinds of efforts in preparation of the CMC Elections and it eased the procedures of voters registration through the headquarters of all electoral constituencies as well as ‘Metrash2’ service but the number of the applicants received during the registration period is less than previous elections which saw registration of 32,000 voters.

According to Al Khulaifi, the CMC Election is a national opportunity and the participation in the elections is obligatory for every citizen who has been granted the right to vote and the call for the registration of voters is not addressed to a limited sections of society but it is for all.

The phase of addition and deletion will start on Wednesday 28 January 2015 and will continue until Thursday 5 February 2015. This period is the expansion of the registration period as well as a chance for who could not register through the headquarters of all electoral constituencies as well as ‘Metrash2’.
