Marhaba was invited to the official opening of a new Lebanese restaurant, Al Balad, the latest offering from Al Mannai Hospitality. Located in Financial Square on C Ring Road, close to Muntazah Signal, the restaurant has a large outdoor seating area, and a relaxed ambience and modern décor inside.

The first Al Balad restaurant was founded in 1999 in the heart of Beirut, quickly making a name for itself as a specialist in reinvented Lebanese cuisine served in a casual, convivial setting. Building on its early success, Al Balad went on to expand across the Middle East, opening branches in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. A second restaurant in Doha is planned to open in the near future.

We had the opportunity to sample the menu. What seemed like a never-ending array of dishes was placed in front of us – the food just kept on coming, and it was all delicious. Even the ‘usual suspects’ of hommous, tabbouleh and grilled lamb chops had a refreshing twist.  Our favourite was lamb in a spicy sauce with dates and almonds.

Al Balad is just along the road from our offices. We’re looking forward to some good lunches.
