Al-Futtaim IKEA this week announced the launch of the Textiles TAKE-BACK campaign in partnership with Qatar Charity, one of the largest humanitarian and development organisations in the region.

The campaign aims to encourage the community and their customers to live a more sustainable lifestyle by donating unwanted textiles to Qatar Charity. This is also in line with IKEA’s ongoing vision to sustain and preserve the environment by maximising the usage of textiles.

Inspiring sustainable living

To support IKEA’s commitment to becoming people and planet positive by 2030, Al-Futtaim IKEA will place a donation box inside the store for customers to donate pre-loved beddings, towels and blankets. The unwanted items will be sent to Qatar Charity and will be reused by families in less privileged communities.

Commenting on the partnership, Al-Futtaim IKEA Qatar Store Manager Alexey Sitkin, said that the Textiles TAKE-BACK campaign, in collaboration with Qatar Charity, will take them closer to inspiring sustainable living and protecting the planet.

I would encourage the larger community of Doha to come forward and support us in this cause. We are confident that by partnering with the largest humanitarian and development organisation, our effort will help families afford a better life.

Through Al-Futtaim IKEA’s partnership efforts, the brand aims to lead the change towards a sustainable retail industry in the region, find new ways to preserve the earth’s precious resources and promote more sustainable practices.
