al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) Q.S.C., has announced its support to the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), a proactive organisation in Qatar which pledges to work towards increasing public awareness about cancer and cancer prevention.
al khaliji’s gesture, for the second year in a row, came as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on raising awareness for health related initiatives.
al khaliji Group Head of Human Resources, Hamad Al Kubaisi, handed the donation of QR84,614 to the foundation at the bank’s headquarters. The donated funds were collected from the bank’s Ramadan charity donation account aiming to further foster the social ties between the bank, its valued customers and the community. During the holy month, for every customer transaction using al khaliji debit or credit cards, al khaliji donated QR1.
Director General of Qatar Cancer Society, Mariam Hamad Al Nuaimi, said:
The association is keen on spreading awareness about cancer in the community by directing its awareness campaigns to reach the various categories in society. Supporting the message of the QCS is a social responsibility that should be shouldered by the entire community including individuals, families and institutions. Our association always welcomes partnerships and agreements with various institutions to increase the effectivity of its awareness mission. We extend our thanks and appreciation to al khaliji bank for its long-term commitment towards our cause. We look forward to building on this partnership with al khaliji in our future initiatives.’
The mission of QCS is to create awareness, prevent and cure cancer through research, education, communication and collaboration. QCS programmes and services advance the understanding of cancer causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment throughout the State of Qatar with a focus on patients residing in Doha who are unable to afford treatment’s fees. The association also emphasises the importance of the diverse support it gets from different institutions to spread awareness in the society. Such support significantly contributes to achieving Qatar’s National Vision 2030 which aims at producing well educated generations with wide knowledge on health-related issues.
