As part of Al Sadd Sports Club’s (ASSC) social responsibility initiative, it has launched a new programme called ‘Healthy Neighborhood’. Directed at primary school students, the programme aims to link good physical health and nutrition with exercise so it becomes a lifestyle.

Jassim Al-Rumaihi, General Secretary of Al Saddpraised the programme’s fresh approach and said ‘We have established ourselves as a socially responsible club.’ ASSC is the first professional club in the Arab gulf region to adopt a social responsibility programme in accordance with the 180 Degrees Change strategy.

Wesam Rizik (above), an Al Sadd player and ASSC social responsibility ambassador, said ‘As athletes it is our responsibility to encourage the new generation to adopt a healthy lifestyle.’ He revealed Al Sadd Sports Club’s plan to design healthy lunch boxes, containing a sandwich, juice or milk, yoghurt, fruit and a healthy baked dessert. The lunch boxes will be decorated with colourful graphics, some of which the children will get to colour in.
