Guided by the slogan ‘The Choice is Yours,’ this year’s Qatar National Sport Day attracted a diverse crowd of citizens and residents participating in a wide selection of sporting events, activities, and entertainment shows spanning the entire country.

Now on its 13th year, QNSD stands as an annual celebration in Qatar, dedicated to emphasising the significance of sports and their integration into societal life, advocating for their incorporation as a fundamental aspect of daily routines for individuals.

Among those who participated in the activities were some members of the Al Thani Family headed by the HH The Amir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani who joined a paddling activity at the Purple Island.

Qatar Foundation Chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and CEO and Vice Chairperson HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, meanwhile, joined the celebrations at Qatar Foundation in Education City. The QNSD fun at QF began with a football match played between the children of Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disability and Qatari football legends, organised by the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

The activities at Education City were designed to cater to the whole community, including those with disabilities, with a safe space provided for women and girls to participate in sporting and fitness routines in the Education City Stadium.

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was spotted at the events in Msheireb while HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassem, Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs also participated in the activities at Dreama Center.

Expo 2023 Doha joined the festivities by staging a series of sporting activities at Al Bidda Park. The event exceeded expectations and included a number of thrilling and competitive activities.

The expansive and vibrant Al Bidda Park – home of Expo 2023 Doha – played host to exhilarating competitions, ecstatic winners, and fans who cheered to the sights and sounds of five tournaments and 230 events that saw the participation of over 50 governmental and non-governmental organisations in a genuine celebration of sportsmanship and athletic prowess that echoed across Qatar and the region.

Employees at Katara Hospitality also participated in an exciting day of activities held at the Rixos Gulf Hotel. Hamad International Airport (DOH) also commemorated this year’s Qatar National Sports Day by hosting a variety of engaging fitness related activities across its terminal.

A diverse range of interactive fitness activations are featured throughout the airport for departing and transfer passengers of all ages, including a Leopard Crawl, Tyre Challenge, Sack Race, Hula Hoop Competition, Tennis Tetherball, Paper Plane Competition, Hang & Squat Challenge, and Runway Dash.


Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital meanwhile transformed Aspire Park into a vibrant hub of activities. Aspetar experts at Pitch 10 also offered free health checks and personalised advice to learn valuable tips to optimise performance and maintain physical well-being.


As a proponent of investing in human capital through sports, Mowasalat (Karwa) organised various events and activities tailored to maintain the health and wellness of its employees.

This year, an even wider selection of sports accommodated everyone’s interests. Team-based activities included basketball, football, volleyball, tug of war, relay races, paddle, and badminton. This year’s celebration took place at the sports complex at Mesaimeer Depot.


United Development Company (UDC), one of the leading Qatari public shareholding companies and the master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, has celebrated National Sport Day in participation with the General Retirement & Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA), Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool), Ronautica Middle East (RME) and Corinthia Group.

The event was held simultaneously in Qanat Quartier, Costa Malaz and Porto Arabia districts of The Pearl Island, where employees, residents and visitors of all ages enjoyed a variety of sports, entertaining and challenging activities, including fitness exercises, as well as various inflatable and challenge games, among many other recreational activities.


Sheraton Grand Doha also held a successful celebration of QNSD. The event saw a massive turnout of over 500+ participants engaging in various fitness activities and classes organised by Sheraton Fitness.

A wide range of activities were held, like outdoor yoga with Vishnu, exciting Zumba with Pamela & Iman, fun tennis socials, Padel Socials mixing tennis and squash, tough boot camp workouts, and refreshing aqua training in the water. Everyone was encouraged to enjoy being healthy.

In addition to the fitness classes, the event featured a Fitness Challenges Booth where participants tested their strength, agility, and endurance in a series of interactive challenges. Kids Activities were also available throughout the day, providing young participants with opportunities to engage in fun and active play under the guidance of experienced instructors.
