First look – fantastic! The new GAC Empow is very cool, very contemporary; clever use of colour, chrome, contrasts, great grille, sleek body – everything says ‘speed’, ‘performance’ and ‘sporty’.  The designers and engineers at GAC are now so skilled and so confident they have produced a trendsetting new car for a new generation. All new cars being released now will have to keep up with this new paradigm or they will risk being left behind and looking out of date and old fashioned.

Those first impressions do not go away: the Empow interior is great to be in, it’s stimulating and enjoyable – the driving position, the ergonomic controls, the high tech centre console, the user-friendly screens for information and entertainment, your sporty and very supportive seat, the premium soft-to-the-touch materials, the carbon fibre look, the splashes of bright yellow (both inside and out), yes, this interior is as eye-catching and head-turning as the silky, satiny exterior. And it must be said, the green finish – (matte fighter green!) is absolutely gorgeous!

All the above must come through into the driving experience which in my case was more like a sensation! The Empow really goes; it is as fast and performative as it looks. Some drivers like a smooth ride, some like to experience power. Well, the new Empow lets you fully express yourself with its Sport+ mode; that’s atop the Sport mode but there’s also Comfort and Eco mode for the more conservative. GAC however has another mode for the individualist, the DIY mode, which lets you customise your very own mode. But here’s the promise: you’re going to enjoy driving the Empow.

Superb design and state-of-the-art technology make the Empow a joy – to look at, to sit in and to drive. But, maybe more importantly, they are also at your service in order to protect you and your passengers from any unforeseen situation or unsafe incident.
