Hani Akkari has been appointed General Manager of one of Doha’s fastest-growing hotels, Alwadi Hotel MGallery Collection, located in Msheireb Downtown Doha.

With a hotel career spanning across Europe and the Middle East, Akkari comes to Alwadi Hotel with over 15 years of experience at some of the world’s most recognised luxury properties.

Akkari started his career in 2007 gaining valuable experience in France at Four Seasons Luxury Hotels and Resorts – Cote D’Azur, followed by Hilton Arc De Triomphe – Paris in a managerial role. His career took him to join the pre-opening team at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche where he was promoted to Director of Rooms Division, overseeing every aspect – from operations to financing – ensuring and exceeding every expectation by providing an unparalleled guest experience.

An ACCOR veteran, he then transferred to Sofitel Al Khobar (KSA) as Executive Assistant Manager and then moved to Alwadi Hotel MGallery Collection – Doha, Qatar where he led the pre-opening team as Director of Operations into a successful opening and transitioned to Acting General Manager.

Akkari holds a European Bachelor in Hotel Management at Ecole Hoteliere de la Rochelle – France and Master Certificate in Hospitality Management – Focus on Hotel Revenue and Financial Management at Cornell University. He said that Alwadi Hotel MGallery Collection has, in just 12 short months of operations, already cemented itself as one of the city’s most exciting and dynamic new hotels.

I was fortunate to be involved with the hotel from the opening and I am honoured and excited to now take the team and Alwadi by MGallery Collection into an exciting new phase.

Akkari said that in their first year, the hotel’s M|SPA was honoured with two key awards in the OhLaLa annual Spa and Wellness Awards and both M|SPA and SOFRA have been nominated for the World Luxury Awards 2020 which will be held later this year.

The hotel has also cemented its reputation as a world-class venue, with some of Qatar’s top organisations and companies holding their events and conferences at the hotel.

With 213 rooms and suites each combining contemporary design with a touch of local flavour, the hotel also has award-winning spa and restaurants, and a stunning rooftop bar.

Both Souq suites and the royal suite offer balconies with views overlooking Souq Waqif, while the superior, deluxe and executive rooms offer spectacular views of the iconic West Bay skyline, which comes alive at night.
