Marhaba went off on another culinary adventure, this time, to the newest Intercontinental Doha offering – Gemmayze.

Gemmayze is a Lebanese restaurant and its name should have been a tell-tale sign of an unusual food experience since it sounds close to the word amazing! It was indeed amazing, and all of us hardly managed to keep up with the feast that was laid before us.

The mezze, while typically Arabic, combines fresh with fresh – freshly baked khubus and dips with a selection of fresh salads.

For starters, we had the restaurant’s signature Kebbeh platter. Kebbeh is said to be a national dish in Lebanon and while it typically follows a particular preparation process, its ingredients can be modified. What we had combined minced lamb meat with burgul, pumpkin and potato, grilled and fried. Whichever way it was prepared and whatever the combination, it did capture something delicious inside.

The main dish – aptly called Hamour Gemmayze – came with a generous topping of sweet onions!

But the dish that blew us out was the dessert – Kunafeh Gemmayze 3al Saj! If you are having a bad day and want to feel better, go have this really wonderful, sweet thing. It won, hands down, our vote for the best dessert in Qatar.
