Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) welcomed guests to the sixth Annual Tourism Industry Ramadan Ghabga, which brought together the council’s partners in the public and private sector.

QNTC Secretary General, HE Akbar al Baker highlighted the achievements of the tourism sector, noting a 10% increase in the number of visitors in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year. He also pointed out the significant increase in the number of cruise ships and passengers arriving in Qatar during the 2018/2019 season, which ended earlier this month. With 44 cruise ships and 140,000 visitors arriving at Doha Port, this cruise season has witnessed a 100% growth rate compared to the previous season.

Al Baker also acknowledged and thanked the members of the Qatari hospitality sector on their recent rankings, which place the Qatari guest experience on top in the Middle East for the second year in a row, based on the Olery Guest Experience Middle East Report.

The Annual Tourism Industry Ghabga is a platform hosted by QNTC for members of the tourism sector to connect, exchange ideas and find new and innovative ways to develop the sector through partnerships.
