As part of ongoing construction works on Corniche Street, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has announced a temporary closure on the Corniche Street from Sheraton Roundabout (R/A) to the Post Office signalised junctions, in order to complete the conversion of the Sheraton R/A to a signalised junction.

The nine-day closure will take effect from the night of Thursday 27 February to the night of Saturday 8 March 2014.

Commuters will be required to use alternative roads throughout this period, and follow the directions and road signs. The traffic from Dafna R/A and City Center-Doha going towards Sheraton will have to go right to Al Funduq Street and use alternative roads to reach the Corniche Street, or take Majlis Al Taawon street (as indicated on the attached map).

Commuters from Majlis Al Taawon street will have to take Omar Al Mukhtar street then go right towards Dafna R/A. While commuters on Al Funduq street going towards Sheraton Roundabout will have to go right in front of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, and follow the directional signs to reach the Corniche Street.

The project consists of three lane dual carriageways on the Corniche Street including three lanes towards City Centre and three lanes towards Omar Al Mukhtar Street, in addition to side roads to the right of signals. The work also includes creating a signalised pedestrian crossing between the two intersections to access the new Qatar International Exhibition Centre and other government buildings located in this area without a need to make a U-turn from Al Dafna intersection.

althakiraen closureThe Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ will implement a one-lane closure on the road leading to Al Thakhira Municipality, Al Khor industrial area. Closure and diversions started on Saturday 22 February 2014 and last for a period of 10 months for Expanding of Al Khor sewage network and the development of Al khor Commercial Street.

Road users, in both directions, shall use the other two lanes of the same road. Traffic coming from Omar Bin khattab Road and heading towards Othman Bin Affan Road shall use the diversion shown in Green on the attached map​.

As part of the upgrade works of the existing infrastructure, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has announced a temporary partial closure of the Jaidah Flyover located in the Mushaireb area.

The closure will be implemented in two phases in order to complete upgrade and maintenance works on the flyover, while keeping smooth traffic flow in the area. The first phase of works will include the closure of only the East bound lane of the flyover going towards Mushaireb area. The closure will take place starting Wednesday 29 January 2014 and will last for two weeks. Traffic coming from Jabur Bin Ahmed Intersection (Ramada Signal) and Salwa Road will use the ground level through Mushaireb Interchange located below the flyover as per the attached map.

Jaida closure

As part of the second phase, the East bound lane going towards the Mushaireb area will be open and the West bound lane of the Jaidah Flyover going towards Jabur Bin Ahmed Intersection (Ramada Signal) and the Industrial Area will be closed for two weeks starting 15 February 2014.

Traffic heading to Salwa Road and the Industrial Area will also be diverted to use the ground level through Mushaireb Interchange below the flyover.

The scope of maintenance works will include replacing the asphalt layer over the flyover as well as improving the structure to accommodate the increased demand of travelers in the area. The works will result in improved roads and streamlined traffic movement in the area. All necessary road signs have been installed in the area to provide clear directions for commuters.
