Aspire Academy recently hosted a celebration to mark the latest achievement of one of their upcoming star athletes, 17-year-old Bassem Hemeida, currently in Grade 11. Hemeida won a silver medal in the Men’s 400m hurdles at the 2018 IAAF World Under-20 Championship in Finland, which concluded earlier this week. Hemeida was welcomed by Aspire Academy officials.

Hemeida finished the race in 49.59s, a minute better than his previous best of 50.55, and only seconds behind winner Sokwakhana Zazini who bagged South Africa’s second-ever gold medal in the event after finishing the race in 49.42s.

Speaking from the sidelines, Aspire Academy Director General Ivan Bravo praised the performance of their current and former student athletes during the competitions. He also urged Hemeida and his teammates to continue their hard work to achieve even greater results.
