Khalfan Ibrahim Aspire AcademyWith the help of Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Stars League (QSL), Aspire Academy has launched a new television commercial, which features Qatari football star Khalfan Ibrahim at Aspire Zone on 3 December 2013.

Directed by Christian Lyngbye and produced by the independent production house, City Films, with the collaboration of Fortune Promo seven agency, the official advertisement premiered on Tuesday at Aspire Academy, demonstrating the academy’s commitment to nurturing and training young talented student athletes to become champions in sport and in life. The commercial highlights the hard work and discipline, allied to natural talent, required to become a sporting champion, and illustrates how Aspire Academy prepares its students for a career of sporting achievement through its comprehensive curriculum. The commercial marks the first time Aspire Academy has used a local star as the main character in an advertisement. Acting alongside Ibrahim is 9-year-old Qatari boy Hassan Juma.

Aspire Academy Marketing and Communications Manager, Ward Abdulla, said:

Through this TVC, we wanted to showcase what Aspire Academy is about especially when addressing the local community. Our key message is that we are the right place for talented sports future athletes in Qatar.’

Dubbed as the ‘Maradona of Qatar’ and ‘Khalfaninho’ in reference to Ronaldinho, Khalfan Ibrahim plays as a midfielder for Al Sadd and the Qatar national team. He was named the Asian Player of the Year in 2006, becoming the first Qatari to win the title. He played for Al Arabi at youth level before moving to Al Sadd in 2004 on a professional contract. His father, Ibrahim Khalfan Al Khalfan, is a former footballer who played for Al Arabi and the Qatar national team.

Discussing his depiction as a role model in the advertisement, Khalfan said:

This was my first time acting, and it was a great experience. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the campaign that aims to encourage young athletes to work hard to achieve their dreams.’

Filming took place at Aspire and across the city, capturing Khalfan undertaking a punishing fitness regime before turning his training into triumph on the football pitch. Over 60 crew members from all over the world were involved in the production process.

Ward continued:

This TVC is not the only one the Academy has produced, but we will be revealing other TVC‘s with other Qatari Athletes, in the future.’

Following the official unveiling, the commercial will be aired on national television channels as well as a selection of regional and international media outlets.
