Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) is launching a photography competition that will see amateur and professional photographers compete for a chance to win valuable prizes and the honour of being crowned the 2018 Aspire International Kite Festival Photography Competition winner.
The competition will be held for the first time on the sidelines of the Aspire International Kite Festival, a three-day spectacle at Aspire Park on 6 to 9 March. This year promises to be one of the largest kite festivals in the world and is expected to attract thousands of visitors, so there will be plenty to capture across the three days.
The competition was organised in collaboration with Qatar Photographic Society.
Ahmed al-Khulaifi, Chairman of Qatar Photographic Society, is inviting all professional and amateur photographers in Qatar to come and demonstrate their talents and capture the beautiful sport that connects Qatar’s diverse communities.
Aspire Park is the perfect venue for this amazing festival and photography competition and we’re sure that those who enter and attend will have no shortage of opportunities to capture some amazingly creative and colourful shots.
Aspire Park is also the perfect venue for photographers, with its vast open spaces and diverse landscape providing an ideal opportunity for use of different lenses, angles and lighting throughout the day. We wish all of the entrants the best of luck and hope they enjoy capturing this amazing spectacle though the lenses of their cameras.’
Terms and Conditions. The competition is open to all individuals ten years old and above. The competition will accept three to five high-quality photos. All entries should be without any watermarks or personal information, and should be submitted on a CD in JPEG or TIFF 300 DPI format. Use of photo editing programmes – Photoshop – should be limited to minor colour touches. Conditions will be announced on Aspire Zone’s ‘Life in Aspire’ website and AZF social media pages.
Valuable Prizes to Top Winners. A business class plane ticket to a destination of their choice will be awarded for the first place winner. Second place winner will receive two economy class plane tickets, while the third and fourth place winners will each receive a professional camera.
Many international teams have expressed their enthusiasm for this year’s event, including an Italian team who participated in last year’s festival who described their experience in 2017 as ‘unforgettable’. The Italian trio Aquilonisti Eolo Gubbio, Andrea Baffoni, and Moreno Lauri said that the first edition was a truly amazing experience.
Meanwhile, the President of Singapore Kite Association, Wing Lee, is also excited about the festival. Their group helped organised workshops and presentations last year for students and kite enthusiasts. Returning French kite flier, Roger Tessa-Gambassi, who bagged the second place in 2017 said he felt like he was taking part in a festival that ‘would one day become one of the world’s leading kite festivals.’
The 2017 edition of the festival attracted over 40,000 people. The event has since become a milestone in Aspire Zone’s successful annual events calendar.
