Qatari residents have a unique opportunity to race against former English footballer, Robbie Fowler, in the Standard Chartered 10km Race at Aspire Zone later this month.
Every month, Aspire Zone hosts a range of fun activities designed to engage the local community, and on 14 December 2013 race participants can compete against the former English football legend. Catering to all fitness levels, the event will feature three distances, 10 km, 3 km, and a 1 km race entitled ‘The Leaders Run’. On the same day, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will perform ‘Spain and Italy’. This Friday 6 December 2013, they will perform the ‘Han-Na Chang’s Debussy and Ravel’ at the Ladies Club.
Also set to return this month is the highly-anticipated second annual Doha GOALS (Gathering of All Leaders in Sport). The event, designed to bring together prominent global personalities to create initiatives aimed at achieving world progress through sport, will be held at Aspire Zone from 9 to 11 December 2013.
In addition, following a year of cultural exchange, Aspire Zone is set to host a Qatar-UK football tournament. Three of the UK’s top school football teams will compete with their Qatari counterparts. The tournament, which will also include a range of cultural activities, will be held from 13 to 17 December 2013. The final match on the last day is open to the public.
To round off the year’s activities, Aspire Zone will host the Junior Qatar Athletics Cup at the Aspire Dome. Organised by the Qatar Athletics Federation, the competition will be held from 23 to 25 December 2013 and 30 to 31 December 2013 and is open to the public.
Aspire Zone Foundation regularly organises, as well as hosts, a range of activities designed to encourage local residents to adopt healthy lifestyles.
