ASPIRE4SPORT 2012, the Middle East’s biggest sports business congress and exhibition, starts today at ASPIRE Dome, Doha. The event is on until Thursday 15 November.

Being held for the third time, ASPIRE4SPORT – with its new slogan ‘Connecting Business & Sport’ – will have an array of new and exciting features. The event attracts the world’s leading business experts and some famous sports personalities.

New for this year are three programmes: ASPIRE Build – focusing on infrastructure and stadium development; ASPIRE Tech – a conference on technology and sport; and ASPIRE Med – developments in sports science and medicine.

There are a multitude of sporting legends taking part in the daily ‘Star Chats’, including

  • Former Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier and Managing Director of Liverpool FC Ian Ayre
  • Spanish football legends (currently playing for Al Sadd in Qatar Stars League) and Fernando Heirro with former Real Madrid sports director Pedja Mijatović
  • Anthony Joshua, London 2012 super heavyweight Olympic gold medallist alongside former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis
  • Hassan Al Thawadi, General Secretary of the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee

This afternoon ASPIRE4SPORT has Star Chats with Anthony Joshua, and Dikembe Motumbo, one of the top post defenders in NBA history. Both will be available for autographs and the event is open to the public for free.  Watch the interviews live at 2pm on Al Jazeera and Al Dawri wal Kass sports channels.

Tickets for the El Clasico match between famous Spanish rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will be on sale between 3pm and 7pm when the ASPIRE4SPORT Exhibition will also be open to the public for free.
