Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) announced that competitors looking for a chance to show off their skills and strength can now register in the renowned clash of the giants in the Qatar Strongest Man (QSM 2017) competition.

Now on its fifth year, men aged 18-years-old and above will be selected through rigorous tests to showcase their strength and endurance in a series of challenges during a two-day event in two categories: the Open competition for members of the community, and the Qatari Only competition on 24 and 25 November.

According to QSM Organising Committee member Ibrahim al-Hilal, AZF has decided to take in more participants this year to expand interest and to promote the culture of physical activity among members of the community.

The 2016 edition generated some very positive feedbacks, and the surge of QSM popularity has encouraged AZF to take rivalry to a higher level, thus, extending the challenge over two days in two categories.

I call on those who did not get the chance to join last year to come and put their hidden powers to the test in a very entertaining and competitive environment at Aspire Zone Foundation. I am sure we will see new faces this year competing for the title of the strongest man in Qatar.’

Following registration, entrants will be invited to go through a series of rigorous health and physical tests where the fastest participant will get to complete 200-kg-weight lifts and a 20-metre Farmer’s Walk carrying 120 kg weights in each arm to qualify for the final round.

The big day will include challenges such as cargo truck pulling, heavy sand bag lifting, giant wheel flipping, and Farmer’s Walk carrying heavy weights in each hand.

Last year’s edition was an unprecedented success attracting more than 131 entrants. However, only 14 qualified to the final stage where Fahad Al-Haddad (Qatar), and Christopher Oketch (Kenya) emerged as champions.

AZF will also organise a series of accompanying community activities for all family members to enjoy as they watch participants. Activities will include a fan zone and a playing area for kids, as well as a variety of local food and beverage stands.
