Ooredoo and Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) have officially announced the third Ooredoo Temba Football Tournament, to be held between 20-28 March on Aspire Zone’s state-of-the-art five-a-side football pitches.
The Temba football tournament which is exclusively sponsored by Ooredoo is scheduled to feature 32 teams that will then be divided into two categories; football enthusiasts and corporate employees. Each team will comprise of one goalkeeper and four players. Participants will compete for a chance to win prizes and be named this year’s champions.
The last two editions were a huge success, with more than 160 football enthusiasts in Qatar enjoying the fun and competitive atmosphere.
Nawaf Al-Ajwan, a member of the Organising Committee, stated:
We expanded this year’s tournament by adding the corporate category due to the huge turnout and interest we have received from football enthusiasts during previous editions. The tournament tests talent and speed which stems from our unified vision in promoting a healthy active lifestyle amongst Qatar’s communities. The world-class football pitches are designed to meet international and European criteria and incorporate advanced solar technologies. I invite everyone to come down and cheer for their favourite team.’

*Update: Teams Drawn as AZF gets ready to kick-off the 3rd edition of the Ooredoo Temba Football Tournament
On Sunday, Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) held a technical meeting with the Ooredoo Temba football tournament’s participating teams. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday at the state-of-the-art five-a-side football pitches at AZF.
During the session, the tournament’s organising committee held a draw for the eight teams that will be divided into two categories. For category A, the competition will be between the following teams; Ramco, Qatar Insurance, Gulf Insurance and the Banks team. As for category B, competitions will be between Ooredoo, Bravo Design, Al-Kass TV.
In the category that will be open to footballing enthusiasts:
- Category A: Salt 1, Al-Adaam, Samla and the Jordanian Committee.
- Category B: Al Wajba, Al-Zaeem, Salt 2, and Qatar 2022.
Furthermore, the committee announced the awards for the top three teams:
- Winner: QAR12,500
- Second place: QAR7,500
- Third place: QAR5,000
*Update: During the final matches of the ‘Ooredoo Temba’ championship, which was organised by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) in partnership with Ooredoo, Al Khaleej Takaful were crowned champions in the corporate category and Salt 2 took the trophy in the football enthusiast competition.
With more than 120 players taking part in this year’s tournament, Al Khaleej Takaful managed to beat Ooredoo 7-4 in the corporate category final. Bravo Design came third after winning 9-5 against Qatar Insurance Company.
As for the football enthusiasts’ category, Salt 2 beat Samla with a winning result of 13-7. Leaving the third position to Salt 1 who defeated Al Zaeem 11-7.
The winning teams found their way to the podium as awards were announced, the winners took home 12,500QAR, second place winners received 7,500QAR and the third position took 5,000QAR.
The awards were presented by Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, CEO of AZF, Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer of Ooredoo Qatar, Abdullah Aman Al Khater, Director of Events and Venues at AZF.
The second and third position awards were presented by Nasser Abdullah Al Hajri, Director of Public Relations and Communications at AZF, Nawaf Al- Awjan, Deputy Director Venues & Events at AZF, Abdullah Al-Mohannadi, Director of Events at Ooredoo, Mohammed Al Ansari, Director of Events and Conferences at Ooredoo.

By adding the corporate category, we increased the allocated spaces to strengthen social ties in a fun and a competitive way.
