Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing (BQFP) and the Katara Art Center are organising a Historical Novel Writing Workshop led by bestselling Qatari novelist Abdul Aziz Al Mahmoud. The workshop will be on 4 March and 6 March at the Katara Art Center.
Al Mahmoud is a Qatari engineer and journalist. He has a BA in engineering from Clarkson University in New York and an aviation and engineering diploma from the UK. He was the editor-in-chief of Al Sharq, The Peninsula newspaper and Al Jazeera’s Arabic website. His novel, Al Qursan, is considered to be the bestselling Qatari novel of all time.
Al Mahmoud will work with the attendees on overcoming the obstacles that prevent authors from writing their novel. Al Mahmoud will explain how to write a bestselling novel, including identifying the era, researching the historical context, structure, avoiding writer’s block, along many other useful methods he has developed.
Those interested in taking the course can email [email protected] to obtain the application form. The last day to apply is Monday 25 February 2013. Selected applicants will be notified by email.
