Following a rigorous audit, RasGas Company Limited’s (RasGas) has been recertified by the British Standards Institution (BSI) for its Quality Management (ISO 9001:2008), Environment Management (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSAS 18001:2007) systems.
This confirms and reinforces RasGas’ continuous drive for excellence, through a relentless focus on quality, environment and occupational health and safety management systems. General Manager of BSI Qatar, Omar Rashid, said:

The BSI has been privileged to see how RasGas has used standardisation solutions to improve processes and reduce risks in all its operations.’
The BSI, which is the world’s first national standards body and a founding member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), presented the recertification to Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Chief Executive Officer at its headquarters in Doha’s West Bay. Al Mohannadi said:
RasGas’ steady focus on accident prevention, maintaining an inherent culture of excellence and commitment to best practice and quality has established it as an industry leader. This ISO and OHSAS recertification encourages RasGas’ management to oversee systematic and continuous improvement of its practices, and encourages the integration and alignment of the organisation’s strategy and operations.’
RasGas received its first ISO and Occupational Health & Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS) certification in 1999 and has continuously met the world class ISO and OHSAS standards through its stringent RasGas Elements for Excellence (RGEE) programme which provides an integrated framework of quality, safety, health and environment management systems.
The ISO recertification ceremony coincides with the week marking World Quality Day being observed on 13 November 2014. World Quality day was introduced by the United Nations in 1990 to increase worldwide awareness in which quality contributes to transitioning a nation’s and an organisation’s growth and prosperity.
RasGas is a Qatari joint stock company established in 2001 by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil RasGas Inc. RasGas acts as the operating company for and on behalf of the owners of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects RL, RL (II) and RL3 (Project Owners). With operations facilities based in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar, RasGas’ principal activities are to extract, process, liquefy, store and export LNG and its derivatives from Qatar’s North Field. RasGas, on behalf of the Project Owners, exports to countries across Asia, Europe and the Americas with a total LNG production capacity of approximately 37 million tonnes per annum.
RasGas currently operates the Ras Laffan Helium Plant which was established in 2003 and came on stream in 2005. The plant extracts, purifies and liquefies helium from the North Field. The second helium plant entered production in June 2013 bringing the total liquid helium production capacity to 1.96 Bscf per year.
