Customers will be delighted to hear that they can now buy products by leading British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s in Qatar.

In an exclusive distribution agreement signed in May 2019 between Marakez Trading Co and Sainsbury’s, shoppers will now find a range of products by one of the UK’s most established supermarket brands at selected Al Meera supermarkets in Qatar.

The ribbon cutting ceremony of Sainsbury’s Shop-in-Shop in Qatar took place recently at Al Meera’s flagship Hypermarket in Hyatt Plaza, attended by Sheikh Suhaim bin Khalid Al Thani, Chairman of Marakez Holding and the UK Ambassador to Qatar, HE Ajay Sharma, along with representatives from Al Meera Group and Sainsbury’s UK.

Ambassador Ajay Sharma said he was delighted to see another example of the successful trading relationship between Qatar and the UK with the opening of the first Sainsbury’s store in Qatar. He said that the UK follows some of the highest food standards in the world and he hopes that all customers enjoy the quality and variety of food that Sainsbury’s offer.

Marakez Trading Co CEO Abdelkarim Al Zoubi added that their teams are constantly working to bring new shopping experiences to customers in Qatar, and they are delighted to offer residents in Qatar exclusive products from Sainsbury’s.

Sainsbury’s shop-in-shop at Al Meera’s Hyatt Plaza store carries a wide range of their distinctive own-brand food lines, which will also be available in these Al Meera outlets: Al Markhiya, Azghawa 1, Bin Omran, Jeryan, Onaiza 2, Gulf Mall, Jeryan, Al Qutaifeya, Leabaib 1, Al Mirqab (Al Nasr).

Richard Hodges, Head of Sales and Wholesale Buying at Sainsbury’s, said their offering will bring more choices and innovation to customers in Qatar and will include their best-selling brands such as by Sainsbury’s, their premium Taste the Difference range, Be Good To Yourself, Deliciously FreeFrom, SO Organic, Little Ones and OraCare.
