Café Murano is one of those places you wish you could just stay the whole day. The ambience is relaxing, the food is comforting, and the view is marvellous. It’s nestled inside Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl-Doha, just a little turn to the left from the mesmerising grand lobby, before you go down the oyster chandelier-embellished staircase.

We visited the café for their Revamped Breakfast offering. Coming in early, I believe we were one of their first guests for the day. We were escorted to one of their prime seats, overlooking the pool and beach front. It’s still hot and dusty in Qatar during this time of the year and it’s energising to have some peaceful and calm mornings like this.

Looking around, Café Murano sparkles with its chic European-inspired interior. There’s plenty of big glass windows that allow the light to stream in. Colourful paintings and mosaic adorn the walls of the cafe and their glass racks at the counter are brimming with gorgeous cakes and delicacies one can easily mistaken as replica displays.

Their revamped breakfast package is priced at QAR95 per person, with a minimum of two persons per table. With it, you each get two beverages of your choice and a tower of morning favourites such as seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, a basket of assorted croissants and other pastries, jams, artisan cheese plate, cold cuts, muesli and fresh yoghurt.

Serving as the main course are the choice of breakfast eggs. I got the omelette which was served with more breakfast staples like hash brown, sausages and bacon and grilled tomato on the side. My colleague, Maria, tried the beautiful Eggs Benedict with one of the best sauce hollandaise.

The revamped package allows guests to stay until 1 pm. With the impressive breakfast spread on our table, we took hours lounging. The sunny beachfront is a perfect setting for a long breakfast and the luscious couches make extracting yourself extremely hard. They invite lounging a little longer and just one more coffee or tea and so we did. Even though the breakfast package only includes two drinks, it’s hard to pass up the Matcha Latte as recommended by our server from their a la carte menu. Maria got herself some green tea. It was a wonderful end to a very happy breakfast.

If you plan on staying longer for lounging, meetings or other gatherings, Café Murano has an all-day dining offering until 11 pm. Their afternoon tea is also a must try. It’s a perfect daytime escape.
