Yesterday, Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) and New Doha International Airport (NDIA) announced the winners of the ‘Capture the Essence of Qatar’ photography competition and held a reception dinner at the Museum of Islamic Art Education Centre in their honour.
Hala Al Khalifa, Education Manager at QMA, said ‘This National competition brought together all professional and amateur photographers living in Qatar. It was open to all people with love for photography and the camera, whether they are Qataris or local residents from any other nationality. ‘Capture the Essence of Qatar’ was the title of the competition which followed the guidelines of the Qatar National Vision 2030. It was a celebration of talents and different interpretations and an exciting competition to be involved in.’
A jury of experienced visual artists and cultural leaders reviewed, evaluated and chose the four winners. The photos of the winners including Arioseto Kusuma Adi, in the first place, and Hussein Mohammad Al Shafi’i, Muhammad Al Misnad, and Sarah Abd Al Majid will be displayed in a prominent position in the departure hall at the New Doha International Airport, and each of the four winners received a prize of QR 20,000 presented by Akbar Al Baker, the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways.
The competition highlighted Qatar’s achievements and the passion of the people who live and work in the country. The theme of the competition followed the Qatar National Vision of 2030, which is human development, social development, economic development and environmental development.
