Careem, the popular ride-hailing service in the Middle East and North Africa, recently launched its annual breast cancer awareness campaign, Fight Cancer with Careem, for the benefit of Qatar Cancer Society.

In honour of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a global initiative held each October, Careem is donating 10% of its ride fares to the Qatar Cancer Society whenever the booking code ‘THINKPINK’ is used. The company has also placed breast cancer awareness brochures in its captains’ cars in an effort to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer.

Through the Fight Cancer with Careem initiative, the ride-hailing company aims to increase local and regional awareness about breast cancer and prostate cancer, encouraging regular screening, early detection, and effective treatment. The campaign also allows Careem customers to become engaged in the fight against cancer, donating to the Qatar Cancer Society without incurring any additional costs. The proceeds donated to the Qatar Cancer Society will enable a higher number of less fortunate women to receive periodic preventive examinations.

Speaking on the occasion, the General Manager of Emerging Markets at Careem, Ibrahim Manna said they take great pride in supporting Qatar Cancer Society.

It is not only imperative for Careem to continue spreading awareness about breast cancer and other social responsibility issues, but it is necessary for corporations to come together in unison to create a more sustainable future for everyone. Cancer can’t be cured in a day: it is up to everyone – businesses and individuals alike – to work together to shape a healthier tomorrow.’

This campaign is one of Careem’s many initiatives designed to support local communities across the Middle East and North Africa. In Qatar, the company is dedicated to supporting a wide range of social initiatives and efforts, in line with the national development agenda.
