City University College (CUC) recently held a ceremony to celebrate the graduating Class of 2020 – their first cohort of Business students.

The event was attended in person by students and staff, with parents and guests participating via Zoom. A celebration dinner, attended by students, faculty and guests, followed the graduation ceremony.

The graduating students received their BTEC Higher National Diploma, awarded by Pearson Education (UK) and recognised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Most of the graduates are pursuing their Bachelor studies with CUC partner, Ulster University Qatar.

In his address, CUC Principal Richard Hollywood urged the graduates to always challenge themselves and to keep a positive growth mindset, not only to become better persons, but to be ‘a better person for other people’.

Having this type of mindset will allow you to learn from mistakes, take risks and keep an open mind to everything you do.

Head of Academics Dr Ahsan Chaudhry, meanwhile, stressed the importance of the three ‘C’ to guarantee success in life after graduation – confidence, character and creativity.

Graduates Faisal Abdul Rasheed and Hawraa Abdul Hussein shared their learning journey on behalf of their classmates and thanked the faculty, management and staff for their continuous support.

CUC has been in operation for two years. It originally offered BTEC qualifications in Business and recently introduced Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, General Computing, and Computing and Applications Development. CUC, in partnership with Ulster University (UK), now offers another academic pathway leading to a BSc (Honours) degree in Business Studies, with Masteral degrees to follow in the near future.

CUC and Ulster University are jointly building a new state-of-the-art campus in Lusail City to open in August 2022.
