The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) conducted a mock drill at the Qatargas Tower in Dafna on Tuesday, 24 February, with the participation of security staffs in the building.

The operation started when a mock information was received by the Civil Defence about a fire broke out in one of the offices in the 52–storey building, The firefighting and rescue team of Civil Defence in Wadi Sail centre rushed to the site for conducting rescue services and a rapid intervention.

The Civil defence personnel and security staffs could evacuate the building and guide the staffs to the safe assembly point, through emergency exits. The ambulance team and Al Fazaa Police also participated in the operation.

The operation was supervised by Brigadier Hamad Othman Al Dohaimi, Director of Operations Department at GDCD. He stated that the drills were conducted as part of the GDCD’s plans to create awareness about safety measures and train the staff of various institutions on how to address risks during a fire.
