The long-awaited commercial and entertainment complex specially for single workers in Qatar is set to open in the first week of October in the Industrial Area.
The project, a first of its kind for single workers in the country, will have an hypermarket within the complex in its first phase. The facility, to be fully operational by mid-2014, will welcome workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines. The Grand Mall Hypermarket, the largest facility of the West End Park, will open in the first week of October.
As quoted by The Peninsula newspaper, Mohamed Jabir, Group Marketing Head of the UAE-based Regency Group, which manages the Grand Mall Hypermarket, said:
Between 60 and 70% of our customers will be single workers…we will have shuttle bus service from key locations in the Industrial Area to the mall.’
West End Park is spread in a large area of 671,000 sq m, consisting of one of the largest amphitheatres not only in Qatar but in the Middle East with capacity seating 14,500 people. The project also includes a sports club comprising one football ground, four cricket pitches (for practice), one international cricket stadium (with a capacity of 13,000 seats), four badminton and eight basketball courts, four cinemas, a commercial shopping area covering 60,000 sq m. Besides the amphitheatre and sports club, the West End Park will include a kids’ theme park, bazaar and garage sale, venues to host international events, restaurants and a host of recreational facilities, including radio and television channels.
