Under the theme of this year’s Qatar National Day 2013, One Love, the preparations for the community programmes at West End Park, Al Wakrah Sports Club, Al Rayyan Sports Club and Al Khor Stadium are all set for the Qatar National Day celebrations, according to the representatives of Qatar National Day 2013 Committee.

According to the committee, ‘One Love’ shows the bond between Qataris and expatriate communities living in Qatar. West End Park, which is located at Industrial Area, will present the programmes by the Indian and Sri Lankan communities in Qatar, Al Wakrah Sports Club will witness shows by the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities, Al Rayyan Sports Club will show programmes of the Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian communities and Al Khor Stadium will present the programmes of the Nepalese community and other residents of Al-Khor community.

Mana Al Mana, representative of the Qatar National Day 2013 Committee, added that all arrangements and preparations are in full swing as security agencies of Ministry of Interior (MoI) including police forces and civil defence, red crescent and other emergency services have made all requirements at all venues to welcome the events.

Indian Community

Head of Cultural Wing at Indian Culture Centre (ICC), Gopinath VA, said:

We, the Indian community will be presenting various traditional cultural program at West End Park showing rich display from the states of Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnatka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bengal and Orissa from morning session and evening session through five different slots .

The programme are traditional pancharimelam – by Melam Doha, Odyssey dance by Utkalika, Tamil Folk dance by Qatar Tamizhar Sangam, South Indian Fusion dance by ICC students, Bengali Folk Dance by Bangiya Parishat , Dasara Festival by Karnataka sangha, Duff Muttu – Kerala traditional art form by Ibrahim and party, Maharashtra folk Legim, Oppana a Traditional folk dance by Malarwadi group, Telugu Folk Dance by Telugu Kala Samithi, Maharashtra Folk from Maharashtra Mandal and apart from the above there will various Indian language sons by community singers such as  Tufail Mohamed, Milind, Sachin, Riyaz, Malini, Anagha, Shabit, Ajith, Anuradha and Venkappa etc.

Gopinath added that ICC will be providing  bus Shuttle  transfer facility from the ICC to the Venue and vice versa.

Sri Lankan Community

According to the Head of Sri Lankan community program for National Day Celebrations 2013, Tarikh Cassim, Sri Lankan talents have prepared themselves for a full-day event with various activities to lighten up the Qatar National Day celebrations at West End Park with the coordination of MoI. He said:

In addition to school activities, we also have organised several cultural performances, musical entertainment activities by leading stars and community performers. Songs by four Sri Lankan Bands  led by  Chaminda, Dammika, Yohan and Gayan   in the languages of Sinhala, Tamil, English and Arabic.’

Tarikh noted that they have also arranged a non-stop music session and a special Baila session. Cultural activities include stage performance in Kandyan (Classical) style, Folk style (Pathuru), Heritage style and few other surprises.

Pakistani Community

The Pakistani community in Qatar is set to celebrate the Qatar National Day with a diverse array of programmes aimed at ensuring an entertaining as well as inspiring day for the attendees. A representative of the Pakistani community in Qatar, Habibuallah Shaikh, said:

We have invited some of the most popular Pakistani artistes, comedians and performers to fully engage the audience. Other than offering day-long entertainment activities, the program aims to infuse the spirit of love and patriotism among our community for the brotherly state of Qatar, which has always been our second home.’

‘The Pakistani Community feel proud to be a part of these celebrations. We are thankful to HH The Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the honourable people of Qatar for allowing us this unique opportunity. We are also thankful to the Committee of Associated Activities for Qatar National Day Celebrations 2013 and the Embassy of Pakistan for their guidance and support to make this mega event possible.’

To be held at Al-Wakra Stadium, the event will feature performances by well-known comedian Hanif Raja, singers Masoor Fateh Ali Khan and Nafis Khan, Pashtoon singer Haroon Bacha and comedian Mirawis. Local Pakistani artistes Sheeraz Khan will present the famous Khattak Dance, Nazakat Ali Khan of Punjab Music Group will present Punjabi Bhangra and Solo Tabla, Ms Samra will present Pak-Qatar Cultural Show whereas Ms Tasneem Javed will present a fashion show of Pakistani Cultural attire. In addition, students from all Pakistani schools will offer their own performances and hold various competitions.

Bangladesh Community

Head of Bangladesh community, Anwar Hossain Akon, said:

We are glad and enthusiastic to have our participation in celebrating this year’s National Day. We are thankful to Qatar Government, especially Public Relations department of Ministry of Interior.

We would like to extend our gratitude to HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HH The Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Prime Minister and all other ministers for their well thought to include all the expatriates in celebrating their Nation Day…to entertain the audience we have arranged three renowned performers from Bangladesh. Famous singer Proteek Hassan has already arrived and yesterday he made a visit to the Wakra Stadium. Another two artists will be coming on Tuesday. We have also our local singers, artists and performers and we have 3 band group to perform on the day. Apart from the volunteers given to the organising committee, the community will have 35 volunteers for ourselves. We have 18 listed community leaders to overview the overall discipline among our community members.’

As well, the Bangladesh community is participating in cricket match in West End Park and community football team will play a friendly match at Wakra Stadium with Pakistani team.

Nepali Community and Al Khor Community

Head of Nepalese community, Maqsood Alam, said:

We’d like to thank the government of Qatar and MoI for giving us the opportunity of the Nepalese Community represented by Non Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) QATAR to celebrate the Qatar National Day. We are ready to perform in Al Khor Stadium with  many activities such as Sunuwar Group Dance, Gurung Group Dance,  Sekela Group Dance , Tamang Solo Group Performance, Hurra Dance Group, Lmbu Group Performance, Newari Cultural Performance, Tharu Cultural and songs by community singers and musical bands.’

Vishal J Mehta, Al Khor Community Leader, said:

This is a good opportunity for us to show our love and affection toward Qatar. Expatriate families of Al Khor Community are very excited and enthusiastic for being a part of such an innovative and unique initiative by Committee of Associated Activities for Qatar National Day Celebrations 2013…we have lined up rainbow of cultural extravaganza with variety of performances with different nationality to make this event a Super Duper Success. Semi Classical Dance, Bhangra, Folk dance of Philippines Salakot and Banga Dance, Garba Dance, Rajasthani Folk Dance, skit on traffic awareness, Energetic Dance will be highlight of the event. Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and English Melodious and Fast beat songs are prepared by Musical Groups to be played at Al-Khor open stadium.’

Filipino Community

The representative of the Filipino community, Florante Mitra Cabrito, said:

The magnitude of the prepared presentations that will display on the big day will mark the good relationship of Filipinos and the Qataris. The theme ‘One Love’ represents the genuine friendship that flow between the expat communities and the local residents. We proudly believe Qatar is our second home away from home.’

Cabrito added that the presentation at Rayyan Indoor stadium starts from a thematic parade, general songs and series of musical bands, modern and cultural performances, followed by the entertaining magical show – The Amazing Juggler. The program designed to be short but gives the whole idea of the significance of Qatar National Day Celebration.

Indonesian and Malaysian Community

Indonesian and Malaysian community also completed all preparations for their performance at Rayyan stadium with a variety of traditional shows and songs. They include dance using bamboo musical Instrument, Indonesian traditional dance, Malaysian Kuda Kepang dance, Endang dance among others. In addition, there will be a community bazaar by the communities where traditional Indonesian and Malaysian foods will be sold.
