Have a lot of soda bottles and not sure what to do with them? Well, for the bottles, we gave you several ideas on previous ‘Craft of the Week’ articles from bird feeders to hanging planters.

But what can you do with the caps? Easy! Revamp an old frame or funk up a frame you don’t really like. It can be a picture frame, mirror frame or any other kind. The bottle caps will surely add a little funk to your space.

Materials:

  • Frame
  • Bottle caps
  • Glue gun

Metal caps may look better than plastic caps but it’s up to you! You can colour your bottle caps if you have a certain colour/colours in mind but it’s best to keep them as they are. The number of bottle caps you need depends on the size of the frame. If you’re going to work on a big frame, make sure to start collecting bottle caps early. Maybe get your family, friends and even your neighbours to collect some for you too.

Begin by turning on the glue gun and use hot glue to stick the bottle caps onto the frame. If you’d like to show some of the old frame, allow space between the caps and stick them side by side. However, if you want to completely hide the old frame, ensure the caps overlap and you can glue on more than one layer. It’s best to put the ugly, dented caps on the bottom layer and save the pretty, colourful caps for the top layer. Make sure to add a sufficient amount of glue on the back of each cap so they don’t fall off later.

Once you’re done with gluing on the caps, leave the frame to dry.

And voila! Your bottle cap frame is done.

Don’t have a frame? Make one! Here’s an extra creative tutorial of creating bottle cap photo frames:
