The 16th edition once again saw the participation of Young Qatari Designers (YQD) – their third year in a row – where a special pavilion was dedicated to 12 young Qatari designers under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The DJWE Forum also returned, now on its second year, with participation from local and international experts, designers and professors of history and arts in the jewellery and watches industry. The prestigious French watchmakers Objectif Horlogerie presented free Discover Watchmaking workshops for all interested participants, while renowned expert Geoffroy Ader presented daily high-level educational talks, along with Qatar Watch Club, in cooperation with the Turkish Watches Club. Jewellery workshops were also held, with experts providing advice on precious stones and diamonds.

A charity auction was hosted on the fifth day, 24 February, run by auctioneer Geoffroy Ader from Artcurial and moderated by Habib Tamimi. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Education Above All, a global movement that contributes to human, social and economic development through quality education.

The vibrant heritage and glamour of India came alive for visitors in a dedicated Indian Pavilion, which marked the Qatar-India Year of Culture 2019. Visitors were treated to a special visit by internationally-renowned Bollywood actress and style influencer Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who came to the Indian Pavilion accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of India to the State of Qatar, HE P Kumaran.

DJWE 2018 was organised by Qatar National Tourism Council, in cooperation with events company Auditoire. Local sponsors and strategic partners this year included Qatar National Bank, Maserati, Qatar Airways and Shangri-La Hotel. The event is one of the fastest-growing events of the global luxury business community. For more information and photos of the exhibition, visit their website at djwe.qa.
