Doha English Speaking School (DESS) is currently inviting applicants to join their school’s Board of Governors.

The board is seeking governor candidates with the following skills and backgrounds to complement existing competencies:

  • Experience and qualifications in education, ideally Primary or Preparatory School
  • Commitment to improving education for all pupils
  • Understanding of current UK education policy, especially the curriculum

The Board of Governors works in partnership with the DESS Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the long-term success of the school and the children. Being part of the board is a rewarding experience but involves a significant time commitment.

Please note that DESS is looking for candidates with children not currently enrolled in DESS.

Governors attend a full board meeting once every one or two months, as well as participate in a sub-committee (which involves approximately one shorter meeting every term). Time spent in school as governor will also be expected for particular events and meetings.

The governing body aims to drive high standards throughout the school by promoting and maintaining the school’s ethos and strategic direction and by also providing sound financial guidance.

If you believe you have the right skills, energy and commitment, DESS would love to hear from you. Please send your CV with a cover letter outlining your experience to Anita Lansdown, clerk to the Board of Governors at [email protected] by 1 pm Thursday, 25 February.
