IDAM and Jiwan by Alain Ducasse

IDAM-MIAIDAM is in the heart of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). This is Alain Ducasse’s first restaurant in the Middle East. Idam means generosity, the care and attention we take with our guests. The menu offers refined French-Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of influence from the Middle East: tender octopus, potatoes infused with saffron;’zaalouk’ squash with stuffed squash blossom; and camel calf. Philippe Starck designed the décor for this exceptional restaurant with seating for 60. The staff are trained for six months in order to be able to provide the highest quality service and give customers an experience that is as unique as the restaurant itself.

Jiwan is located on the fourth floor at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) with stunning panoramic views over the aquamarine water of Doha Bay. From the outdoor terrace with its impressive views, visitors can look over the desert rose-inspired architecture by Jean Nouvel and the newly restored Palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani. Small dining pods are inspired by the sand dunes of the inland sea or Khor Al Adaid, offering guests the best vantage point to catch the softly fading light of dusk and sunsets over the sea. The design of the restaurant draws inspiration from the unique Qatari nature and geography where the sea comes deep into the heart of the desert. Over four million pearl-like crystal beads are suspended from the ceiling, gently dancing with the air or when guests move around.

Chef Alain Ducasse is a French-born Monégasque chef. He operates a number of restaurants including Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, which holds three stars in the Michelin Guide.
