Science students from six of Qatar’s top international schools will once again go head-to-head to win the prestigious Medical Review School Conference at Doha College next month.

The conference on 20 February 2016, is designed to encourage and inspire students to follow a career in science and medicine.

In its third year, the conference will see teams of science students showcase their scientific knowledge on a variety of medical issues to a panel of independent medical experts in a bid to win a host of fantastic prizes.

Doha College head of biology and event organiser Rachel Hart said more than 50 students aged 15-18 from Doha College, Al Khor International School, Qatar International School, American School of Doha, Dukhan English School, and Doha British School will compete throughout the day.

She added:

Teams from six schools will present on one of the key topics, which are diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease and auto-immunity. The presentations are always of an exceptionally high standard and I am looking forward seeing the students perform this year.’

Ms Hart said all teams will present their work during the morning, with the top three teams progressing to the afternoon judging session with the expert panel.

She said all Qatar school students and parents are welcome to attend the afternoon session, which begins at 1 pm at the Auditorium at Doha College’s Al Waab campus.

She said:

We developed the conference to add educational value to students within Qatar interested in science and medicine. It is a chance for students to showcase their medical research skills and knowledge, interact with other schools and students and encourages healthy competition.

‘This is in line with Qatar’s 2030 Vision of human development and meet one of the key grand challenges for research into health and life sciences.’

To register to attend the afternoon session, please email [email protected] by Thursday, 11 February. There is no cost to attend.
